Do i have genital herpes?
Four years ago two bumps appear on my vulva. At first i thought they were ingrown hairs but they took about 3 weeks to heal, were extremely painful and pus-filled, left an ugly, raised keloid scar on my vulva and were accompanied by leg pain.
I went to the doctor and got blood tests for HSV 1 and 2. The results were negative and the doctor told me it was probably just an ingrown hair. i've never felt completely sure of this diagnosis. the symptoms i had suggest herpes. of course, when i told my partner at the time that i thought that i might have herpes he denied having it or giving it to me and was happy to accept the results of the blood test.
i have never had an "outbreak" since that one time but i would like to be sure.
what should i tell any potential partners? how do i explain the scar? i have basically been without a relationship for the past four years because i am afraid. reading this site has really helped me to put things in perspective.
what i want to know is what is the likelihood that i have genital herpes?

I think that it takes a wile
I think that it takes a wile to show up in the test but besides that I think that it is definitive. I dont know how long it takes, your doctor would know.
Also I just notice that in my last post I meant to say that it wasnt hsv. It hurt like hell but I think it was an infected ingrown hair.
Good luck to you!
i will take the blood test
i will take the blood test again...when i build up the courage. are the test results definitive?
herpes doesnt usually leave
herpes doesnt usually leave scar. I had some weird ingrown hair zit thing before that was pussy and it was hsv. Was the puss yellow or gold because if it was white it was probibly a infected ingrown hair. You could get a blood test again to make sure it wasnt too soon.
