Herpes in nose
Hi I recently contracted my first serious dose of herpes. Not knowinghow contagious it is I accidentally transferred it to inside my nostrils. Since this happened my nose has been trying to heal but as a result is getting uncomfortably blocked by bloody scabs. When I blow my nose to clear these am I stopping the herpes sores from healing? Would a Doctor or a CNA help me? Is there any way to cure this or do I just have to alow it to healnaturally and breathe through my nose? Thanks Ben

You should probably get a culture done so you can get a proper diagnosis. Also if it is herpes make sure that anytime your fingers come into contact with that area you immediately wash your hands with soap and water or you're going to spread it every other place on your body you touch.

Okay, I recently developed a sore in my left nostril. I wasn't sure what it was, just one day I noticed a scab there, well I just couldn't help myself, I kept picking off the scab. The sore spread to the upper part of my nostril and also to the other nostril. That freaked me out a bit (quite alot actually).
I'm 32 year old female, never been diagnosed with any type of HSV, never had a cold sore on my lip or face, and can't remember ever getting a sore in my nose like this. Anyway, I just assumed they would heal on their own, I typically don't go to the doctor for anything, I'm healthy and even when I get sick I'm usually better after a day or two without meds.
So it's four weeks later and I still have these painful sores in my nose!! To describe them, I'd say they are open and raw looking, kinda like a canker sore, but not. They scab over with a light colored scab that looks kinda like a boogie when it comes out (TMI I know, I'm sorry). Well, if they're herpes I don't know, but annoying, yes!
So this is what I did. Yesterday I put some neosporan on a q-tip and applied it to the sores. That night they already felt better. So today I've applied neosporan twice and the pain is completely gone. I can still faintly see the sores if I look closely, but they are definitely healing.
Anyway, just wanted to share that because the sores wouldn't go away on their own and I finally had to do something about it. This is what worked for me, so maybe it'll work for someone else too!
Fairly subjective. Depends on
Fairly subjective. Depends on the person really, try something and find what works for you and when you find it keep with it.
Tea tree oil hasn't worked
Tea tree oil hasn't worked well for me and zovirax whilst pretty good is very expensive. What is the best recommended treatment please?
You can't get herpes simplex
You can't get herpes simplex type 2 in your mouth there pal. Herpes simplex type 2 is only genitally. Herpes simplex type 1 can be in your mouth and genitally.

lysine works wonders but heres a treatment that is sure to prevent them from forming: as soon as you start feeling the tingle, wrap an ice cube in a paper towel and hold it on the cold sore for 20 minutes on 20 minutes off.do this for a couple of hours and youre good to go : )

I am totally susceptable to coldsores; I had them on my mouth, eyes and up my nose. Extreme weather conditions bring them out, i.e. freezing cold or boiling sun on holiday. If I was feeling run-down or stressed I would also get them quite badly.
I went to a herbal doctor re. them and they recommended a herb called lysine. He recommended taking one a day and three if I have an outbreak.
Since using lysine everyday I have had the odd tingle but after taking Dr's orders of three a day during the outbreak they have not appeared!
If you do some research on lysine you will see that a low lysine count is a common cause of having coldsores. Try it!
