I have been married 25 years this year and yesterday I found out that
I have herpes. I have never cheated on my husband!
I now wonder if he has been cheating on me. I felt we had a perfect marriage.
We plan to renew our vows on our 25th ann. Now I'm just devastated with this
news. I feel so hurt... so betrayed! I haven't told anyone this news yet.
Not even him. My Dr. says it could of been dormant all these years and maybe
he had contacted it before our marriage. I am not sure if I should believe
this. I think she was only saying this cause she seen how upset I was.
I just don't know what to believe!

If you have had unprotected sex then he likely has it to. You could have oral sex but herpes spreads from skin to skin contact so if he gave you oral sex you could be spreading it to his face, lips, tounge, etc...
To your other question, once you have it, you have it. Testing is done by cultures and by blood work. If your body is producing herpes antibodies those are always going to show up.
Hundreds of thousands of people are living with herpes and living productive lives. There's no reason to feel dirty, ugly and ashamed. It's likely you know a lot of people with herpes, they just don't talk about it.
Sad day... it started out
Sad day... it started out with a sore, and ended up for about 4 blisters inside my vagina. I went to my gini today and was dicnosed with herpes. I want to know what is the chances my boyfriend also has herpes. We have been together for almost 2 years.
I would also like to know can we still have oral sex?
Will I always be tested positive? We are planning to go work on the cruise ships, and this will be a cause for them to decline me

Could really be either way. It could be from the guy you cheated with and he could just be a carrier and not had an outbreak or lied to you so you would think he didn't give it to you. Main thing is move on, mend your relationship and control the virus.

same thing happened to me at age 16 but life goes on Im 30 now and everything is great. Try going online to the herpes dating sites you can meet people that have it too. Maybe even a cute guy then you dont have to tell him. I used to think it was the end of the world too.

Apparently it can lay dormant, but you could have gotten it and didn't know it, because sometimes people just get an itch or a blister and nothing more. The Dr. told me there are carriers and then the other folks. I've been dormant for about 29 years. He also said stress can trigger it, certain vitamin suplements. If your husband or boyfrined gets, it, he'll know because he'll have blisters that itch and sometimes have a bit of a sharp pain when touched.

I'm 19 years old and today I found out I have herpes.. I will not know if its hsv1 or hsv2 until next week.. I'm terrified.. I had been on my period and my boyfriend and I refrained from sex until I was done with my cycle..but after it was done we had sex like 12 times in three days and my vagina was really sore and swollen (the last time we had sex was friday)..I thought we just had too much sex until I started having abnormal discharge and sores on my vagina.. It hurts so badd.. I've had to use panty liners and lay in bed all the time with loose cotton clothes or nothing at all.. It really hurts to pee. The dr told me to straddle the toilet backwards and that helps tremendously but nothing will take away the fact that I have herpes.. I know my boyfriend has not cheated on me for a fact.. I don't know if I got it from him or prior to getting with him.. Dr also told me to put desitin on certain areas to help w// the pain and it helps when I pee cause the pee jus runs over it.. I'm getting my boyfriennd to get tested.. He was not angry with me at all.. He's been very supprtive.. I don't want to live like this forever. I hope I have very few outbreaks! This is the most horrid and painful thing I've ever experienced.. I hope God heals me and I'm praying for every herpes victim because this is the last thing I would wish on anyone.. I half-heartedly wanna get hit by an 18 wheeler!!!!! Dr gave me a steriod and the valtrex.. He said it should clear up within a week! This is the MOST HORRIBLE THING EVER!

I was just diagnosed with genital herpes today. I am young, married, and confused. I did cheat on my husband with another man, 2 days after which i began my first outbreak. He says he NEVER showed symptoms of herpes before, and his test, (which i was present for,) came back negative. My husband and I never had the STD talk, (we just assumed we were both okay - stupid,) he has not been tested recently, I wanted to assume it was from the man I cheated with, but he tested negative, so it may have been from my husband? These are the only men I have been with in a very long time, so i guess what i want to know is, is it possible my husband had the virus, and it was dormant, and the past 2 years he just had no outbreaks? Or maybe it's from the man I cheated with, and his was dormant? CONFUSED!

Use condoms, no sex during outbreaks to reduce risk of spread. Always a risk though assuming he doesn't actually already have it.
I have had the same sexual
I have had the same sexual partner (my husband) for 17 years. I just found out today I have herpes. I am so confused. Can it lay dormant for that long? I did have multiple sexual partners in college (17 years ago), but never had a sign of herpes. I have been completely faithful to my husband, but recently have reason to believe he may not have been. Has anyone else out there had a dormant case like this?
