pink/red blotch left on chin from cold sore! help!

hi,
this is my first time on this forum but not my first time getting cold sores!

i'm quite worried/panicked because I'm 26 and have got cold sores fairly frequently all my life since i was little (2 or 3 times a year when i get colds/stressed).
2 weeks ago I got a REALLY big cold sore, not on my lip but near it, on my right side of my bottom lip. I put a liquid ointment on and it scabbed up fine, and i ran out of the liquid ointment and got a cream to put on it. I hardly picked it at all (as i usually pick at my cold sores somewhat but try not to!) i accidentally picked away the largest scab (and i can tell there is going to be a bit of a scar).

BUT anyways, it has been about 2 weeks since the scabbing has gone away and it has left an unsightly red/pink blotch on my face that hasn't gone away yet! i'm very self concious of it and i'm just wondering if it will be like that forever now? or will it fade eventually? i don't mind if i am left with a bit of scarring because that isn't as noticeable as a big red blotch!

At the moment I think i am still run down and have some kind of virus as my tongue looks very blotchy as well (like it has chunks out of it!) so i'm wondering if that is why the redness hasn't faded?

As i've said i've had cold sores all my life and as far as i can remember, they have all gone away fine even with picking(if for a bit of scarring that i can barely notice).

I have been putting various skin healing ointments and witch hazel (to help with the redness) with no avail! if there is any advice as to what could help i would be greatly appreciate it. i heard from someone that Vitamin E cream could help so i got some of that today.

Can anyone please help and give me some advice and tell me i won't have the redness forever?!

Really Worried,

Arrawyn

I don't have herpes but have

I don't have herpes but have used just Vitamin E pills and open them and use the "liquid". Hopefully someone else can answer with some advice if they've used an oral medication.

hey whats the name of the

hey whats the name of the pill you use. thank you so much!

Try vitamin e oil. Use it

Try vitamin e oil. Use it first on your forearm to make sure that you're not going to have anallergic reaction to it before you start using it on your face.

I have been dealing with cold

I have been dealing with cold sores ever since i can remember. I have a scar on the left side of my lip that I have had since I was little and it has not gone away.

I have never taken vitamin E or any oil, but I will try it now. If you don't touch your cold sores, most likely, they will not scar. I used to pick at them when i was little, but i know better now, and I have not had any scars since.

As soon as I feel a cold sore coming (it kinda tingles) I take this blue pill that I think is also used for herpes, but obviously in a smaller amount. It reallt work for me!!

Just like the comments above, if anyone has any suggestions for scar corrections creams from cold sores, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

MJ

It's not 100% for everyone

It's not 100% for everyone but if you use the vitamin e or you could also get the vitamin e capsules and break them open.

I got a cold sore right above

I got a cold sore right above my lip and a little below my nose basically in the middle haha! But I got a scar cuz I showerd and forgot all about it and wiped my face and ripped the scab off omg it hurt! and theres a pink scar there now its so ugly! so does that mean this scar will be there for a couple of months? but If I put vitamin E on it everyday it will still take months but eventually go away???

Use vitamin E oil. Many

Use vitamin E oil. Many people use vitamin E oil on scars of various types. Anecdotal evidence indicates that vitamin E oil does reduce the appearance scars over time. Because cold sore scars are small, vitamin E may be useful in treating the scar.

I've heard varying degrees of success with Mederma though some swear by it.

Hi, I am 25 yrs old and have

Hi, I am 25 yrs old and have been dealing with HSV1 for about 5 years now. This is the first time I have really investigated the condition online and I must say it is somewhat comforting to hear that I am not the only one out there who has to deal with this tough, tough virus. Anyways, I get about 1-3 cold sores per year and the last one has left  a noticeable red mark that is half on my lip and half below my lip. It seems as though the scar has been there for a few months. There are a few things I would like to bounce off everyone and I appreciate any feedback or advice!!

1) What kind of vitamin E can I apply to my scar? Will this cause me to breakout in the same spot? Can I cut open Vitamin E pills and rub that on my scar? Are there any other topical creams that are specific to dealing with cold sore scars? It seems as though the Jury is out on Mederma and ScarZone for cold sore scars.

2) Sometimes my scar almost looks as though its breaking out again. Does this happen to anyone else? My scar will almost get more red in certain situations and I feel as though it is aggravated or something. Does this happen to anyone else?

3) What are the most important vitamins I can take in order to help heal my scar? Vitamin E? Lycin? Zinc? Is there any vitamins I can take to prevent outbreaks? Also does anyone know what foods naturally have a lot of Vitamin E or Lycin?

4) Does anyone have a good chapstick or lipbalm that you can apply throughout the day to give your lips vitamin e or help your skin/lips heal from a past cold sore?

Well, I know I put a lot out there for everyone, but, I must say I appreciate any input that I get back. HSV1 has been really trying for me to deal with and any feed back that I can get back will definetly help me try to deal with this shitty thing. Also to everyone else who has to deal with this know that there is one more person out there who is trying to fight through this and can sympathize with you and your pain and agony.

It can but that's not

It can but that's not everyone. Can't just put it in a box. I've never went through it myself, I'm just an admin here but my friends clear up within a couple of weeks to a month at the most usually. Varies person to person.

cold sore scars take 6 months

cold sore scars take 6 months to a year to fully go away.
