Confused About New Herpes Diagnosis

What are the chances of contracting the herpes virus from performing acts on an infected woman with your hand, then doing so on yourself a few minutes later (with the same hand)? Are they greater, less, the same?

exposed?

I may have been exposed to the herpes virus. The other partner revealed after sex she had it but didnt have an outbreak. This was one week ago and I'm am showing no symptoms as of yet. Is there any preventative medicine to suppress or minimize the potential effects should I incur an outbreak in the near future. Obviously, I am very concerned.

confused

I just found out todat that I have herpes simplex antobodies. Is it possible that I could have had herpes for years and it did not show up in all the blood test that I've had for std's until now? My husband swears he doesn't have it he has an appointment to get tested. He say I probably had it years ago when I was a teenager and it just now showing up in my blood. I don't think so. Please let me know if I could of had it and it didn't show up on previous test until now. if not I'm leaving him

very confused

iv never had an outbreak or any of the symptoms n yesturday my doctor called me after me having a pap and said i have herpes type 1 and type 2 she didnt even give me any info i need didnt say what i could do about it..im so confused on how i had no clue i had it i have NONE of the symptoms. whats the diffrence from being a carrier and have full on herpes

Smm0309 - The only difference

Smm0309 - The only difference between being a carrier and having herpes is that you haven't shown symptoms. However, you still "have" herpes to the same extent. You are still able to transfer herpes to partners through something called viral shedding (activity of the virus on skin cells even when you're not having an outbreak). Also, this means that at some point you COULD have an outbreak - it's just hard to tell what might trigger it in the future. You could go years without having an outbreak, or you might be lucky enough to never have one! But you still need to be really careful with sexual partners.

Seems totally likely

I didn't know i had it until an outbreak in my late twenties after being in a monogamous marriage for 4-5 years. My husband and I had to accept it was from my teen years. And no, my husband wasn't cheating, nor I. Also, next out break didn't occur again for 6 more years, so that bug just hides and hides if you are lucky and healthy otherwise
