When you have mono once do you always test positive
Hi,
My ten year had mono at age 4. He recently got a high fever for one day and then has had a 99.4-99.9 for 8 weeks (he has always been 98.3). The doctor tested him for mono (mono spot test) and it came back positive. All other bood work was in the normal range except MCHC was high. The EBV test was negative. We went to a contagious disease specialist and he said he never had mono this time and we showed ignore the fever (not a fever if not over 100) My question is if you had mono once does your mono spot test always come back positive or should we get a second opinion? What does everyone think. just wondering. Thanks
