Report: Herpes Test Often Wrong

According to the report published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology more than half of 172 labs reported a sample as being positive for HSV2 (Genital Herpes), when in actual fact, it was negative, but positive for HSV1 (cold sores).

Herpes is very common and very easy to catch. But it does require close physical contact. Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 does not survive outside the human body. This means that you can not catch Herpes Simplex from sharing drinks, food, make up, going to a public toilet or using a pay phone. You need to for example kiss some one with Herpes (including dry kisses as may be exchanged between relatives), have sex or other forms of close physical contact.

living cell to live, grow and reproduce. The virus uses living cells
as hosts.
In humans, viruses are responsible for many illnesses, both harmless and
dangerous, ranging from the common cold, the flu and Herpes
to Hepatitis, Ebola and AIDS. Most viruses are very
adaptable and often mutate.

shingles is transmitted via the humidity in the air.

have Herpes Simplex 1 or 2 you should be perfectly capable of
keeping your children uninfected.

Oral Herpes - Cold Sores. It
spreads from the affected area only, mostly during an
outbreak but to a lesser extent just before the outbreak and in the viral
shedding period when the virus reproduces itself.

Before your child is born it does not have Genital Herpes if you do because it doesn't spread via the bloodstream. It is both Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 that carries a risk of transmitting to the child during birth. Genital Herpes is caused by mainly HSV2 but in recent years HSV1 have also caused Genital Herpes and not just Oral Herpes also known as cold sores.
