Mononucleosis: Is There a Cure?
No, there is no cure for Mononucleosis. Mononucleosis is
caused by the Epstein-Barr virus which stays in your body
permanently once you've caught it. The Epstein-Barr virus is
a Herpes virus and is also known a Human Herpes Virus 4 or HHV4.
Mononucleosis will pass on its own and there is not much you can
do to speed recovery other than make sure you sleep, rest and get
enough liquids as this helps the body fight the virus.
The symptoms of Mononucleosis are
- Being tired all the time
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Loss of appetite
- Swollen lymph nodes (also commonly known as glands,
located in the neck, underarms, and groin) - Headaches
- Sore muscles
- Larger-than-normal liver and spleen
- Skin rash
- Abdominal pain
You may relieve some of the symptoms with pain killers, fever
reducing medications and soothing lotions such as aloe vera.
It is very important to see your doctor for a diagnosis and further
advice.
