Mononucleosis: Can You Catch it More than Once?
No, after Mononucleosis you are immune to further attacks.
Mononucleosis is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus which belongs to the Herpes group of viruses. Like all other Herpes viruses, Epstein-Barr will remain in
your body after Mononucleosis along with the antibodies that your body
produced to fight the illness. You will not experience further outbreaks
and the risk of passing the infection to others after Mononucleosis is very low. Epstein-Barr
is mostly contagious in the incubation period of Mononucleosis which
lasts from 10 to 60 days and has no symptoms.
There is no cure for Mononucleosis, which is why it is very important
that you follow your doctors advice which will be plenty of sleep, rest
and liquids to give your body all the help it needs to fight this sometimes
very lengthy illness. There are usually no complications associated with Mononucleosis
although the recovery time can seem very long.

it seems it will take forever
i was sick for a month and a half before my doctor finally figured out i
had mono. i kept going to work and cleaning the house thinking it was just the sinus infection i originally got treated for. i was tired too but i figured that was due to working extra hours at my job. i had also been on birth control pills for 6 years. my doctor told me that the pills
were not good to be taking with mono so i stopped taking them. do they prolonge mone? it has now been almost 5 months since i had not started feeling well and 3 months since i was diagnosed with mono. how much longer can this last? i feel okay one day and the next i feel bad again.
i had taken about 2 months off from work due to the fact my spleen was enlarged and im back at work again. im still tired alot and get the occasional headaches and joint pain. i also still have the red rash and
some sensitivity to light.
i have been drinking lots of fluids and eating healthy but how long can mono last? i heard it could last as long as between 6 months to a year!
Sure it can!
I've had mono for more than a year it
s getting better but really slowly...i still have swollen glands soemtimes only slightly and in the mornings a sore throat i still feel tired alot...doctors say it can last a year..it's been longer for me!
