White Gunk On Tongue, Sore Throat

I've been to two doctors now, and neither one thinks anything is abnormal about my tongue or throat. They are absolutely wrong! My tongue is *disgusting* looking, and only a few weeks ago it had never looked like this before. I know my own tongue. Both of my doctors have told me that I'm unduly anxious about this and that any symptoms I might think I have are psychosomatic or a product of stress.

Seriously, though, this is ridiculous. I have streaks of white stuff all over my tongue, and it doesn't rub off. And I don't mean the usual white stuff you expect to see on your tongue. I mean, I can kind of draw lines in it and shift it a little bit, but when I try to scrape it with my fingernails or a note card or something it stays right where it is. It's fairly thick. And on the very back of my tongue I have a series of pupil-sized bumps. Both of my doctors also say that these bumps are normal. So let's say I concede that my disgusting tongue (which looks vastly different from my tongue of three weeks ago) is normal. What accounts for my increasingly sore throat? No one has any answers.

Some people are saying that this sounds like oral thrush, but it seems very strange that these symptoms are occurring roughly three weeks after I had a questionable sexual encounter (kissed, received unprotected oral from a female sex worker). I'm a 20 yr. old male.

What the heck is this? Whatever is on my tongue / in my throat is absolutely NOT normal. I'm sick of these doctors acting like nothing is wrong when the opposite is blatantly true.

A blood test reveals that I have HSV-1, but my doctors insist that neither the white gunk on my tongue nor the sore throat has anything to do with oral herpes of any kind.

Don't worry about it, i had

Don't worry about it, i had this before & i freaked. I have the answers for you. No it is not normal i went through the exact same thing. What is it? , well lets ask a few things 1st, do you eat healthy, have you changed diet, have u started eating healthy, do u drink alcohol, do you get heartburn & do u stress.

It is 1 vicious circle, you look 1 day see a coated tongue, freak, the next day its thicker & u freak more then it gets thicker. So your body is defending your stress making your tongue worse.

next is the diet, imagine eating grease, what happens when u swallow it? just put some water in the sink and drop some grease in it and drain the water & u will be left with grease stuck to the sides, just like your throat. So now you have skin shedding, yes your skin sheds on your throat & tongue just like it does on your back in the shower. Have a shower & scratch your back, see the dead skin in your nails, thats also happening on your throat all the way up your tongue. NEVER EAT LATE AT NIGHT THIS WILL GIVE YOU A COATED TONGUE.

next is heartburn, when u sleep the acid rises & this will sure coat the tongue.

Alcohol will give you a coated tongue especially binge drinking.

lastly, infection or antibiotics. Infection will cause your lymph nodes to swell (they are at the top of the neck just below the jaw, if you feel like marbles then they are swollen & you have an infection. Antibiotics will also cause a white tongue because they kill the good bacteria aswell as bad.

The cure:- Buy a tongue scraper & scrape your tongue daily & also buy some Pro-Biotics & take 2 a day (get them from health stores) this will build up your good bacteria & help clear your tongue. Drink plenty water but not too much (about 1.5litres a day). Exercise. Convince yourself it is nothing & it is normal because it is!! if you think it is something then you are stressing & not knowing it.

It really is nothing to worry about just look at what i typed & see if anything matches. I argued with my doc saying i am not stressing etc etc but really i was, i just didnt know it.

JUST NOTICED THE OTHER POST WAS BY YOU ABOUT THE RASH ON YOUR NECK, THIS IS I WOULD SAY A SHAVING RASH & THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED INFECTION & I THINK THIS IS YOUR WHOLE PROBLEM.
