the course of the disease

Seven days ago I discovered a rash below my right breast and the back part of the rib cage on the same side. Two days later I was diagnosed with shingles. I immediately started with the prescribed therapy (huge doses of Alcovir and a lotion), and loads of vitamins and ehinacea. The day I went to see the doc I was a healthy person, so I was surprised when she told me I should spend the weekend in bed getting some rest. However, as the weekend came, my state worsened unbelievably. I began to feel pain inside my breast and in the armpit, sometimes feeling even pain through my whole right arm. One day I felt pain in the leg, the other at the crotch (also right), but the breast and armpit pain has been constant. I have been so weak that occasionally I could do nothing but sleep (without fever, though). I also feel that the lymph nodes in the right part of my head are sensitive. The rash seems to be getting better all the time (although in the meantime some new spots erupted). So my questions are: Is this a normal course of events? Should I do some more tests? When can I expect the pain to stop? Is this kind of pain normal, as I don't really feel any skin pain, but rather something coming from underneath? (I generally do not find the pain unbearable but very uncomfortable and alarming.) Somebody please help!
