Shingles scars getting worse?

I had shingles over a section of my face about 7 weeks ago. The scars were subtle but have now bcome redder and more raised. They are now itching quite a bit and all these hard white lumps are popping up underneath the scarring. What is going on. I went to GP and he said not to worry about it but gave me a refferal to a cosmetic dermatilogist "just in case"

I know there is a cream to help minimize the scars of chicken pox which I am sure would work the same for shingles, I can't think of the name however go ask any pharmasist I am sure they know what it is.
