How Likely To Pass Along Mono
Hi,
I was very sick in April 07. I waited a few weeks before deciding to get a blood test, at which point the symptoms had recessed slightly. The blood test told me I had Epstein Barr in my system but I did not currently have mono. The doctor interpreted it that had I taken the blood test weeks earlier when I should have it wouldve come back that I actively had mono. I recovered fine, and just over two weeks ago I begin feeling very sick again. After about a week of delaying (I'm always one to hope it will "just go away") I went back to the doctor and had another blood test. I was put on steroids in order to reduce the swelling and make me more comfortable. The tests came back two days later (one week ago) that I actively have mono...again. Looking at the results of my blood test and urine test, my doctors told me I have the most acute case they've ever seen in their practice. My numbers are way off. Anyway, A week later near all symptoms have gone away. My throat has returned to normal. The only reminder of my mono is my occasional fatigue and tiredness.
Recap:
I have mono for the second time.
Symptoms showed up two weeks ago.
Feeling much better now.
The Point of this post: When can I begin to
a) go back to the gym and lift weights?
b) kiss my girlfriend? I know mono is most contagious in incubation period, but does that mean its safe to figure "if she doesnt show it by now, shes not going to?"
c) play roller hockey (which is technically classified as "non contact" although there is contact, its just not football or Ice hockey with checking)
Thanks!
