Safely Getting Pregnant from a Herpes carrier

in

I actually have a few quetions about Herpes. I recently started seeing someone and he just revealed that he has Herpes. Being an awkward thing to just put out there... we really didn't go into details. He said i was fine as long as he didn't have an outbreak. He said he gets cold sores.. but he also said he gets painful outbreaks that last for 1 1/2 months sometimes. This leads me to believe he's getting it below the belt as well....

SO, here are my Q's:
-Should you ALWAYS have your partner wear a condom if he has Herpes but NO outbreak?
-AND what if i wanted to get pregnant by someone who has Herpes, does this mean i would get it???
-What are the chances of getting Herpes from kissing if there is not a cold sore?

Also... how are women tested for Herpes... does a PAP test tell if you have Herpes... or is there a test spacifically for herpes?
If yes, then how is one tested?

Thanks... any input would be great.

OK does he have genital

OK does he have genital herpes? of he only has oral or mouth herpes you cant get it from having sex, just oral sex. He should go on an anit viral to cut your chances of getting it if possible, I dont know about pregnancy I would ask a doctor, because I was the one that had it when I got pregnant I was in a different position. If you are in the states I belive they can do a blood test to see if you have it, which is a good idea because many ppl have it and are not aware. There is such a thing as asymtomatic shedding, so if he is not having a outbreak he can still pass it. There is most chance of this happeneing with genital and less with oral herpes you can look up stats for that. You should always wear a condom, not only for herpes but any other STD even if he has gotten tested he could still have HPV, which I know someone who had a hystarectomy because of it so very serious. I mean if you were married it would be a different thing to take on those risks but just being in a dating realationship, not worth it in my opinion. (unprotected sex) if he has genital herpes even with a condom you could still catch it if he is shedding or gets outbreaks in areas not covered by condoms, I think wearing boxers would lessen the chances, and using an anit viral gel (google that and herpes) would most definetly help as well. I would not have sex unless you are pretty serious in your realationship because genital herpes is not fun to live with, would I take it on for my soul mate if I didnt have it and was put in that position...yes...would I take it on from the guy I got it from again....no way....just keep researching it, it is not the worst thing in the world and some ppl realy have no issues with it...just that some do.
