do i have genital herpes?

hello, originally i thought i had a vaginal yeast infection so i bought the proper medication, but it didnt get better. i had an itch, sometimes a burning sensation, and my vagina was red and tender. my clitoris seemed swollen and almost sagged, and it was painful to sit. about four days after all of this i developed two patches of bumps kind of under my butt about 2 inches away from my vagina. these bumps were identical to regular acne pimples, some coming to a white head at the top just like many pimples. some of these pimples spread up and i have a few on my butt now. eventually these bumps got itchy so i itched them, and now they are scabbs. i have only had any sort of intercourse at all what so ever with one partner, who also had never been sexually active before. is this genital herpes, a yeast infection, or possible an allergic reaction to spermidal lubricant?

It sounds like it could be

This sounds pretty familiar but for goodness sake get to a doctor and find out if this is what it is and make sure that you have nothing else contagious. When I contracted herpes 15 years ago I also contracted chlamydia and if it had not been for getting a total screening would have been infertile!!!! It may seem embarassing but it is so worth going through this to make sure that you are healthy.

i had the same thing

i had/have the same thing. I thought I also had a yeast infection and bought the over the counter stuff because I had one before. I used the external cream, but it didn't help. my clit got really swollen, and it was really itchy and uncomfortable to walk-or do almost anything. I went to a walk in clinic finally, and he noticed scratch marks-which i know are from me scratching excessively down there. he asked me if i noticed any water blisters, and i had not. he then took 2 swabs, then prescribed me 2 of the yeast infection pills and told me to take them two consecutive days. I did this, but when I came home from the clinic, i was putting on more of the external cream (he told me to continue to use it to help with the itching-even though there were open sores), i noticed bumps on the inside of the lips of my vagina.

I freaked out, and the next day went to another walk in who I explained the situation to, and he prescribed me stronger cream for my discomfort. The cream stung when I put it on, and the swelling didn't go down, it got worse.

I had 3 bumps on the top of my pelvic area, which I know are ingrown hairs from shaving, but being cautious, I put the cream on them in hopes of them clearing up as well. They didn't, they got worse and looked a little infected.

eventually I went to my family doctor who just by looking at it said it was herpetic. he told me my best bet would be to go to the ER and see a GYNO. i balled my eyes out, and went. when i was finally seen the GYNO, without taking swabs, told me it was herpes and told me i would have to take valtrex. She took a swab from the sores i know are ingrown hairs, and told me to take the pills for 10 days and make a follow up appointment with her.

the pills have helped a bit, I'm assuming, but I really don't think I have herpes because I don't know where I would have contracted it from. I have been with the same person for the past 6 months, and neither of us has cheated.

Although I'm preparing myself for having it, I won't fully believe it until the test results are back.

I advise you-DON'T SCRATCH. at all. because I've looked up things, and there are many infections it could be and they could spread. I would go see a doc, but be warned they may tell you you have herpes-even before they have test results.

If you find out its not herpes and its something else, please inform. although i'm waiting for the test results, i'm still looking to see what else it could be.

i've also done sitz baths (warm water with a little epsome salts-BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUT TOO MUCH, it hurts.) which have helped the swelling and itch.

um if your boyfriend has

um if your boyfriend has ever been kissed by an aunt, parent anyone who had herpes, he could have possible gotten a cold sore as a kid, never got another sore in his whole life but still have to virus in his body and given you oral while shedding the virus, he may have lied about being a virgin, maybe it's nothing, but this is not an office of doctors and we certainly can't see what your talking about, go get checked right now!

cold sores are herpes type

cold sores are herpes type one, generally, and can be passed genitally via oral sex.

alright well if i know for a

alright well if i know for a fact my partners first time being sexually active was with me so he could not have any sexually transmitted infections, and also we had used a condom EVERY time, and i have never been sexually active with anyone else before, what are the chances of even having the virus at all? to me this seems extremely improbable... also the bumps i have are not at all charactoristic of herpes sores. any insight?

um why would you be on this

um why would you be on this site if they aren't characteristic of herpes and you think there is no chance you could have it? Basically if he hasn't ever had a cold sore, and you have never recieved oral sex from him, and someone didn't rub their sores all over a toilet and you rubbed yourself all over the toilet after immedietly (which I am positive didn't happen)I would say chances are slim to none it is herpes, just what I think, I could be wrong, thats why I think you should go to a doctors so they can look at you and tell you.

well i didnt think it was

well i didnt think it was herpes, but im young and ive never seen the virus before on a person, and i wanted to be prepared if it was herpes afterall. i just wanted to ask people who were knowlegable about the virus, because telling my mom something like "i might have herpes, take me to the doctor" was not something i wanted to have to do if it probobly wasnt herpes. idk sorry i was just wondering

cold sores are herpes, thats

cold sores are herpes, thats what herpes looks like because that is herpes. So if you have seen a cold sore, you have seen herpes. If it was herpes it would most likely be very itchey very tender to the touch .

make sure it

You should make sure with your doctor firstly. Don't upset by it if it is true. You can go to a STD community if you are alone at the beginning: stdpal..com. There are many supportive herpes friends on this site will help you with their experience

so did you get a test???

Like others have said, you or him could have contracted it "way back when" (cold sore) by kissing a relative or a friend, and not even noticed your first outbreak (contrary to the beliefs that the first is the worst). I've even heard it's possible by drinking from the same glass or sharing a cigarette.

Let us know how you make out. We're here to help!
