Herpes Doctor

Everyone,

I have had Oral Herpes my whole life and was not very aware of how contagious the disease was before the past six months. The research has made me very paranoid because I DO NOT WANT GENITAL HERPES. I have been dating my present girlfriend for three years now and she has never had an oral herpes outbreak. I may have kissed her during a prodrome or at the scab end of a very weak breakout (something similar to chapped lips for me.) When I started doing heavy research I discovered that the virus could be spread during prodrome and that sometimes prodrome occurs without a full outbreak ever manifesting. I also know that oral herpes can be spread to the genitals as well. Although, spreading it to oneself is rare because of the body's antibody immune system. I'm just not sure about passage to another person and then that person transmitting it to another region on the original host. It seems as though it would be the same virus I have even if it has been transmitted to my genitals by her mouth and so my antibody system would be able to prevent contracting it genitally. I also think it is important to note that I have never been in a relationship where I have sex and oral sex as frequently as we do; it is great, don't get me wrong, I just need to make sure we are both protected, which leads me into my question, which I'm sure you have guessed by now.

Is it possible for me to have passed my oral herpes to her during a prodrome followed by her passing it to my genitals at a later time during a prodrome stage she is having? The only reason I am so worried is because I have a red dot about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen or maybe a pinhead on the shaft of my penis just below the scar from my circumcision. I feel like I have been noticing a lot of itchiness in my entire genital area lately, but that could be jock itch which was spread from the athlete's foot I got from a friend's hunting boots :). Has anyone ever contracted genital herpes that originated in their own trigeminal ganglion? Put more plainly, has anyone ever contracted genital herpes that started on his or her own mouth, then passed to someone elses mouth, and finally back to his or her genitals? Is this possible?!?!?!? Could everyone please help me tease this one apart.
