Does this sound like Herpes, I dont know

in

First I havent been sexualy active and my cousin contracted herpes from contact in a sporting event on the palm of his hand. Im concerned I may have got something from him because he plays with my xbox contoler and we switch off. I read that 3% of herpes is contracted without any symptoms present.

My possible symptoms include:

Both palms of my hands has been itching for the first time in my life (I have eczema).
Some raised bumps not necessarily red just 'skin color'. Some are light pink.

Im starting to get this textured looking area on my palm. Seems to an the textured area has some bumps in it. I also think I scratched a bump off and it hasn't healed or looks like its going to heal.

It doesn't tingle or hurt. It started itching about two weeks ago. Does Herpes itch and can get it from touching an object like passing a controller back and foth? We do sweat on the controller for sure. (one of my main questions)

I have also been sneezing like a bandit at times. I've been told it could be hives but not by a doctor. Im going to see a doctor this week.

What are some early symptoms that might be confused for something else and in general, early symptoms.

It definetly tingles, based

It definetly tingles, based on what you have wrote I am not sure you have herpes. Herpes looks more like blisters then bumps though it can take on many different looks. If there is fluid in your bumps I would be concerned. Do not try to pop them you could make a huge mess if it was herpes and spread it to other parts. Unless he has a breakout, I would think sharing controllers would be minimal risk. Herpes sheads most in genial region, then mouth, hands is last. The skin is really thick. I have read this, but I forget where. Good idea to get checked and I wouldn't be touching your genitals directly with the bumps if you can help it.

Hmmm...

Matt,

Has your cousin confirmed with a doctor that the bumps on his hand are herpes or is he just paranoid about it? That is a pretty rare place to get herpes. Secondly, I would think that getting herpes from a controller is a lot like getting herpes from a toilet seat, being an avid video game player myself. It would probably have to be a situation where he is playing with the controller for a while, making the temperature of the controller go up enough to sustain the herpes virus while he is not touching it. Then you grab it immediately. I would even go so far as to say that he would probably have to have a blister, not just viral shedding, which burst fluid (which is concentrated herpes virus replicated to the point of a fluid under the skin) all over the controller right before you grabbed it.

I agree with niki when she says that the hand is a very hard place to contract herpes in the first place and you need to be aware that herpes is not just bumps, it turns into fluid filled blisters that is usually a cluster, not just a singular blister. You are understandably concerned about getting herpes because it is for life. If he has confirmed his herpes with a doctor then you should talk to him, a doctor, or just avoid using the same controller, at least until he educates himself so he knows when he is contagious, etc.

This is a pretty good picture of what herpes looks like after the itching in the middle of the outbreak, but still its early stages:

After that the blisters will pop and a scab is left until it heals completely.
