Do I or don't I?
I have now been to my family doctor several times. I have had the herpes test and it came back positive but they can't tell you if it's oral or genital herpes for sure. I have had sores in my genital region and on my breasts but the doctor looked at them and said "No, those can't be herpes." I was relieved. He said it looked like a bacteria infection of the skin so he prescribed some antibiotics. After the first antibiotics didn't work, he prescribed another set. Then I got more severe sores in my genital region. This time he says that maybe it is the herpes acting up and that it looks different on everyone because everyone has different skin that reacts differently. So now I am taking acyclovir. He gave me a stiff dose of 5 pills of 200mg 5x a day for 7 days, but now I am tapered off to only occasionally. I'm not on it constantly because my husband and I want to start a family and the doctor doesn't want the drug in my system all the time if I get pregnant. The acyclovir worked just a little but a few days after my stiff doses stopped, I got a sore on one of my breasts. I'm confused and scared that if I get pregnant I'm not going to be able to breast feed like we planned and that I could pass this onto our baby. I'm thinking about seeing a second doctor about the sores to see what they would say. I do have the itchiness but I also have dry skin and the itchiness seems to go away when I use baby oil or any good moisturizer. I don't know how I got the virus but I have some ideas. I first had a symptom (I think it was a symptom...genital itchiness which I thought was a yeast infection) when I was working at an herbal greenhouse. I watered the plants and was soaked head to toe with chemicals and water 90% of the day (maybe bacterial infection then?) That was about 3.5 yrs ago. I was also raped when I was 17 and I'm almost 32 now. I had two boyfriends that were big time cheaters in my 20's. Keep in mind that my Dad also has these same exact sores (under his belly on his belt line) but he won't go get tested for herpes (he argues that it goes away when he stops drinking certain sodas) Now from what I read and hear you can't get this from a toilet seat and only with skin on skin contact and since my father and I are close but we are NOT that close. My Dad is also EXTREMELY loyal to my Mom. To the tune of total devotion, it's quite gross to see when you're their child....lol So I hope I didn't confuse anyone else here. I am just hoping someone else can decipher my thoughts above really. Doctors never have enough time to just discuss your worries and they can't read minds when you don't even know the questions to ask...
