Best Treatments

I just recently was told that I have herpes by my gyn. She put me on Valtrax. How good is this medication or is there one that works better. I know there is no cure but isd there something that works better to control outbreaks. The only outbreak I have had is one little cut in my labia area. This is healed. But I want to know if there is a treatment that can really control the outbreak and symptoms.
Does anyone has any feedback. I am new to this and very scared.

That is the best treatment you are taking now!, I ran out of Valtrex when I was having an outbreak and I had one for the first time on my Labia too and I was like " what the f@#K is that".... I had 4 pill left of valtrex and I couldn't get them refill for another 5 more weeks (@%@*%#@!) I got disparate and order online " Viralprin Herpes Suppression" It helped and I felt better.....I still say that Valtrex is the BEST but thats just me??!?!? maybe someone will tell you different, YES the other med Varalprin did help and it was cheaper but I was scared when I had that outbreak and I couldn't take the pain any longer. So if your asking for a back up then "Viralprin" but if you want reliable then "VALTREX"!!! I hope that help

I am pretty sure that my doctor prescribed Valtrex to me the first time...it was $80-$90 Canadian & 2 pills per day. Ever since then I use Acyclovir-->it is the same thing but much cheaper ($25-30) with the inconvenience of taking it 5X per day...so substantial difference in frequency but has the same application.
