I would like closure, if possible...

I was in a relationship with a woman who has genital herpies... She told me that I could not catch it from her unless she was having an "outbreak" at the time of sex. After we broke-up I found out through a doctor that it can still be transmitted even if the infected person has no symptoms. In my mind, I freaked... It's been over four years since I had any kind of physical contact with her and I have not exhibited any signs of being infected......Never had any symptoms!! I'd like to know if I have herpies....

My questions are:

1. Can herpies be tested for by blood test? I can't test for it using a culture because I never have symptoms.

2. If the infected person does not have symptoms at the time of intercourse or oral sex, what are the chances of contracting the virus? We never used a condom.

I would say if she hardly

I would say if she hardly had outbreaks, she would *most likely* viral shead less then someone who has outbreaks often. If you live in the states you can get a blood test, I think in canada their might be a test too but I think I heard it is like 300 or something . Not sure about canada.

I would say not having an outbreak is a good sign, but only 20% of ppl with genital herpes know they have it. Though I think that stat. is wrong in all honesty, because I think if ppl were to be honest they would acknowledge the "pimple" they have is not really a pimple, I think alot of ppl are in denial and brush of sympotoms as something else.

thanks for...

Thanks for your info. Helps a lot..

dont worry

hello, I've had H for 23 years, i would say from my experience that you don't have H and you are lucky she was honest and told you first. so don't worry, and about the pimple thing, i also totally agree with the above comment about people not been honest with themselves about the pimple.
