Herpes Doctor

I had shingles many years ago and what I don't understand is why the itch on my back never went away. I tried looking it up, but there is no information on it. I feel like I am the only person that this has happened to. Is that possible?

I did not treat my shingles as soon as I should because it happened on a Friday and I didn't get to see the doctor until the following Monday. I did not know that shingles had to be treated right away or at least within the first 2 days. So anyway I developed an itch on my back that never went away, even after the rash and the rest of the shingles went away. I tried telling my doctor about it, but he doesn't believe that my constant itch was caused by my having the shingles a long time ago.

I figure the itch has to be connected to it, because that's when the itch started and never stopped.

So what is the best thing to bring me relief? Just anti-itch creams?
