Recurrent Herpes attacks
Hello
I got herpes for an ex partner of mine when I was in my 20's and I have only had the occasional attack say once every two to three years and apart from the first one only ever on my face.
Since then I have had two pituitary tumors (Cushing's disease) and had my pituitary removed in 1994 and I am therefore on every hormone replacement one could possibly be on.
As I am now 50 and my consultant requires that I start to reduce my Growth Hormone levels as I get older, which I have recently done. I am suddenly having one attack of Herpes after another with only days in between them and with sores on both my face and genitals.
I am presuming that as I already have a weak immune system with Addison's disease that this lowering on a drug I have happily been on for 11 years is what is causing these outbreaks as my body is trying to readjust to the lower levels of Growth hormone.
Please could you tell me what you think my sudden change in attacks could be put down to?
