Herpes Doctor

2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes. My husband I have been married for 7 years and always used condoms until a year ago. I had an IUD put in and we stopped using condoms. My husband did not know he had herpes. He had experienced an occasional pimple on his penis, but thought nothing of it. 3 weeks ago after having sex, he got another pimple. I got a bump on one of the lips of my vagina area. It was a bit painful. After not going away in a week, I went to the doctor. She said she thought it looked like a herpes sore and took a skin sample. 2 days later, the area got infected and was so painful that I was crying hysterically everytime I went to the bathroom. Went to doctor again and she gave me medication for the infection. Tests came back and I was positive for herpes.

So my question is how do my husband and I live with both of us having herpes? When we have sex, is there a chance that we can give each other new outbreak locations or more sores? Will we need to use condoms forever now? Or is it as my husband thinks now that we both have it that we have no worries. That'll it won't get any worse than it already is right now.

I would appreciate any information/experience anyone has. I don't want to be afraid of having sex with my husband.
