Newbie questions regarding realtionship and herpes :)

Hello, all you lovely people here at herpes doctor :) Let me just start to say that this site is very informative :) It's so lovely to see people share experience regarding this matter.

Okey here is my story. I met this girl months ago. We have dated many times, but we haven't had any sexual intercourse yet. She came to me like 2 weeks ago and told me she had to speak to me about something. I thought it was serious and she wanted to end a good future relationship. But luckily she said that she had genital herpes. She said she haven't had any outbreaks in long time(around a year).

I'm very fond of her and think that we can have a good relationship in the future. The thing I'm afraid of is to get genital herpes. I know that to use condoms isn't a 100% safe way or oral sex is safe.

I've heard about couples having sex without condoms without transmitting herpes.

I have some questions hopefully you guys can help me with. I hope that people who have lived in a long term relationships can answer me here since these questions are in that area.

#1: We want to have sex and is there any chance that we don't have to use condoms every time?
#2: How long before and after outbreaks should we wait until we could have sex(what would you recommend? With or without condom?)
#3: During sex I heard lubricant can prevent the herpes from spreading(or is this wrong info?)Is there any lubricant you can recommend not to spread the herpes?
#4: Any tips you guys can come with? I want to know more about sexual relationships and herpes.

I want to work around this matter and have a healthy, sexual relationship with my girlfriend. So ANY tips towards a happy relationship is very appreciated :)

Have a nice weekend future friends :)
