How often do you breakout? People who've had GH for years.....
Hey everyone,
background:
I just got diagnosed on Monday. It was the most traumatic experience I've ever had to face, physically and emotionally. I'm very depressed at the moment.... After getting back the lab results, doctor prescribed me Valtrex for 7 days. I started taking it even though I was already in my 8th day of breaking out. I feel much better now. Oh, and did get those leg pains... my legs and feet felt really sore, as if I worked out really hard
It was very hard to do anything because I was in such physical pain. I just had a question for people who have been diagnosed for a while:
1. how many years have you have GH?
2. are the breakouts less severe as time goes on?
3. how often do you experience break outs?
4. how long do your breakouts last?
Thank you all for your support. This forum has relieved a lot of stress :)

Re: How Often Do You Break Out
Hi Pen,
I can say that subsequent herpes outbreaks are hardly ever as severe as the first one, so there's one hopeful thought! You might also want to talk to your doctor about staying on antiviral meds to prevent recurring outbreaks (although they may only think this necessary if you turn out to have frequent outbreaks).
I hope some readers can give you some answers regarding the other questions. Good luck,
Amy
How often do you break out
Maybe once a year. I have been diagnosed for over 20 years. I make myself have out breaks because of stress, running on empty, or self pleasuring a little too ofen. I think the majority of my outbreaks are becuase I think about it or masterbation. If I didnt masterbate too long or didnt stress myself out over it I dont think I would ever outbtreak at this stage of the game.
If I listened to the hype I'd have killed myself
Honestly the commercials, internet info, and even what doctors say is only about 25% true. You are goingto be fine. It will not change your life if you be cool. I apparently had the infection since my teens but didn't outbreak for maybe 8-10 years. My husband never had an outbreak and actually he may not have ever contrcted the virus even. I don't know becuse while we were together he wasn't tested. It didn't even occur to us for him to be tested because the outbreak of mine was such a fluke. Never another afterward whilewe were together. My second outbreak occured 6 yrs after the first and it was almost as bad as the first in terms of severity. After that however, only one out break once every one to two year and it comes and goes before I know it. Now I actually worry that I won't notice when it is happening and not be as careful sexually as I should be. So, give it a little time and hope you are a lucky one who gets outbreaks infrequently. You probably are!
I've had it for about 2 years
I've had it for about 2 years and only had the one outbreak 3 days after i contracted it. Sometimes i almost forget i have it because i havent shown any symptoms since then. I still take valtrex everyday to reduce the risk of passing it on because i always worry about that. I know a couple of people who have it and had breakouts frequently but being on a daily medication can help prevent future breakouts or keep them far and few in between.
