Is it Genital Herpes?
About six months ago I found a red itchy bump on the inside of the vagina. The next thing I new it was gone, and havent found anything since. Is it possible to have these, but still be Herpes-free?- And perfectly healthy???
I'm worried because I've only just resarched into Herpes. This means that at the time - no, I didnt take the vital precautions, and so I could of spread the virus to god-knows where. Just recently as well I have a cold with a cough, scabby inside nose, head ache and experiencing pain around one of my eyes. I'm hoping I'm simply ill, but now I'm freaking out.

Bump = Herpes?
Hi,
A red, itchy bump on the genitals could be Genital Herpes but it could also be any number of things or just a red, itchy bump. I have no idea what it is, but I suggest you see a doctor. He / she might not even examine you if you have nothing to examine, so to say, but you could insist on a blood test to confirm that it is or isn't Genital Herpes.

Five red bumps = Genital Herpes?
I had five red bumps near my vagina. went to the doctor they said Herpes. My husband doesnt have it, and neither of us have been with other people. Only thing I can think of is I caught it from the gym, is it possible? I didnt think so, so could I be misdiagnosed?
Genital Herpes caught in the gym?
Hi,
No, you can't catch Genital Herpes from the gym. Yes, technically you could be misdiagnosed. Did the doctor take a blood test to confirm?
Genital Herpes can be latent for years, the first outbreak doesn't have to be immediately after the infection.

Blood test
Hello again,
Yes, I think you should get a blood test as well just to be sure.
Did you get a prescription for antiviral medication?

Possible misdiagnosis of Genital Herpes?
About three years ago, I noticed a single bump on my penis. I went to a doctor (dermatologist). She did a visual observation and told me it was herpes and told me about medication. She also told me that because of the mild symptoms, it could not be the first outbreak. I never had a previous outbreak, and in fact I never had another sign or symptom since. Also, my girlfriend of three years has never had any symptoms or tested (+) for herpes.
Genital Herpes diagnosis
Hi,
If you are unsure of your doctors diagnosis, you should ask for a blood test to confirm.
Do you take medication? Do you practice safe sex? Have you told your girlfriend?

ways to catch genetil herpes besides infected genetals
Hi, first of all relax :) stressing causes breakout right?
Have you or your husband ever had a cold sore? That is also known as oral herpes. Genetal herpes can be caused by a person with an oral sore (cold sore) putting thier mouth on the other persons genetals. Voila, genital herpes.
Herpes is a form of pox (French Pox is the fancy nickname for it). You have to have your genitals touch something that has this particular pox virus on it (which means someone else put thier genitals directly on it first, which means you either have a very nasty gym or did not catch it there). From what this website says the virus can lay dormant for years (when I was diagnosed a decade ago, it was a 6 month window and there was no such thing as a blood test). So has anyone EVER in your life besides your husband touched your genitals? Had anyone ever touched his before? As in oral sex, manual stimulation, toys, etc?
Playing the blame game will drive you nuts. Deal with where you are now. It will not change, if it was a false positive then, frankly, so what. If you get pregnant are you going to not tell your doctor about the diagnosis because you don't agree with it? Put your baby in danger of stillbirth, retardation, blindness? Are you planning on having another lover besides your spouse to have to discuss this with?
Keep an eye out (on both of you) for sores, obstain from sex while broken out (the pain of broken sores helps with the obstaining), be creative when your broken out when it comes to ways to be intimate (massages are great!) and keep loving each other :)
And by the way, I DEFINETLY have this disease (had a breakout a month the first year, only have 2 or 3 a year now, diagnosed 11 years ago). When my fiancee asked what he should watch out for, I showed him the only pic I had of a breakout from a med book. That pic scared ME! I have NEVER had a breakout that looked like that pussing nasty mess! If only it were so easy to spot then herpes probably wouldn't be so common. What it REALLY looks like is a little blister (anywhere from the diameter of a piece of chalk to the tip of a pencil) that has "goosebumps", sometimes redish or whitish, I have had them be flesh colored. Sometimes only one goosebumped blister, sometimes 4 or 5 goosbumped blisters in a cluster. Mine are usually about 1/4 to 1/8 inch in diameter. The way I know it is a breakout is I will have a tingly/itchy spot, then about the next day when I wipe/pee IT BURNS! It feels like I am pouring lemon juice into an open wound. And I caught it the first guy I had sex with, so if your husband was your first honey, welcome to the bad end of statistics. And herpes is like Russian Roulet, he could have caught it before you met him, never known he had it (mistaken it for a "raw spot"), and you just now caught it.
For better or for worse right?

to possible misdiagnosis
Ever have the flu for a day or so and a raw spot on your penis? Could have been the first outbreak. Contrary to those national geographic horror photos of genital herpes, a breakout can look like a funny pimple or a raw spot. It is the flu like symptoms and the strange location of the "pimple" that are the clues. And although some people have breakout after torturous breakout, some get lucky, have one breakout, then don't have another for years.
Keep an eye out, if you get a "raw spot" or funny pimple, treat it, have a dr culture it and wait till it heals till you have sex again, and make sure to talk to your girlfriend! Obstaining during sex, as well as being less painful, is the best way to not pass "the gift that keeps giving"
And by the way, women are bad for carrying and not ever knowing, since our genitals are not on the outside in plain view. And to get the culture of the lesion, you have to know you are having a lesion for starters, then get to a dr for the culture before it goes away. So you really need to talk to your girlfriend. If she has it inside and hasn't got lucky enough to be active during a papsmear, she wouldn't know. If she wants to have children, she needs to find out if she has it. It can be harmful/fatal to the baby if she is ignorant. It sounds like you care enough about her to warn her for the sake of her unborn children.
I got lucky that mine are external, so I saw a problem and could get it cultured. But my OGBYN and I still have to make sure we are observant now.
