Should I be tested?

My last sexual encounter (oral sex performed on me) was March 13th. Sometime in about Mid April, I woke up with a chafing or a "rug burn" in the groin fold where the top of my thighs meet my pelvis. The shorts I was wearing were riding up on me that night and I had been sweating due to the heat. I stopped wearing that particular pair of shorts to bed and the rug burn/chafing was gone in about 1-2 days. A week ago, the same thing happened while wearing a different pair of shorts but the circumstances were pretty much the same. rug burns/chafing in my groin fold that healed in about a day or so. I stopped wearing shorts all together and the rug burns/chafing stopped. No one that has performed oral on me has had an visible cold sores that I can recall. I'm strongly considering getting tested because I don't want to assume its just chafing. What advice do you have for me as far as approaching this? Is chafing/rug burns in the groin fold a common symptom of Genital Herpes?

to rug burns/chafing

Usually it is a blister, accompanyed with really bad flu-like symptoms for about a day. It sounds like you just wore too tight of pants. If you already have herpes, then getting chaffed can lead to a breakout, but that doesn't sound like what you have going on (eg. I get a chafe, have a raw spot for maybe a day, then it has little blisters all over the raw spot for about 5 days). Herpes usually takes more than a couple days to clear up too.

Sounds like your pants were just too tight. If you get another spot like that, get to the dr for a culture to ease your mind, but it doesn't sound like you got it to me (I have had it for 11 years now), but better safe than sorry

Thank you for your response, its just coming to my attention how easy it is to catch herpes. Like many people I was under the impression that you had to make contact with an actual sore and you would see the same kind of sores on your own body within days. Finding out how it can stay in your body for so long with no signs and be contagious has me kinda spooked. I always thought I was being super careful.
