Herpes & Rheumatoid Arthritis

A link between Herpes and rheumatoid arthritis has been found by spanish researchers. They're not certain if the relationship with Herpes is causitive of Arthritis but believe it worth monitoring the Herpes DNA levels in Arthritis patients.

For the study, researchers assessed the level of various herpes viruses in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and serum samples obtained from about 60 individuals with RA and 75 healthy controls. Analysis of the PBMC samples revealed that Ebstein-Barr virus DNA was more commonly found in RA patients than in controls and reached higher levels. Similar results were obtained for another herpes virus known as human herpesvirus 6.

Hello

You cant be more right.

This scares me a little...

I was just diagnosed with vaginal herpes, and never had symptoms before now.
I DID notice that my almost 9 yr old had a cold sore on her mouth a few months ago, which bothered me since neither me nor my husband have mouth sores. She just had another one this month. I know she could have gotten this from my mother who claims she never kisses anyone with the sores, or from kids at school.

Abigail had her first symptoms Jeuvanile rheumatoid arthritis when she was 7 1/2 years old. I'm curiouse if I have had this for this long already, if I could have given it to her somehow which affected her via RA....-Mom of 5

im curioius...

Please check, next time your daughter has an OB, which type of H is it. Apparantly, though not common, one may have HSV2 where HSV1 normally resides. I have never had an OB so I don't know where I have it. I went to my obgyn yesterday bc I am very confused as to how I got this. I've been with only one man and he is negative for HSV2, positive for HSV1 and I'm positive for both. My dr told me that it's possible that I got it from kissing somone that has HSV2 where HSV1 normally resides. I don't knoe.. all of this is very confusing to me and all i can do is to hope that I will never have an OB.. I wil be terrified if it happens...

Is your husband positive for either one? Good Luck to you and your family !
