Introduce Yourself Here
Hello everyone,
my name is Jack, and together with iv I run the HerpesDoctor website.
Jack is not my real name, like many here I prefer a pseudonym. We started this site almost by accident. We wanted to try out some new community software (Drupal) to help us with our other websites and found a need for somewhere like this. Since we started, well over a year ago the site has grown quite big. We don't have any particular agenda other than to keep providing a place for people with Herpes to ask questions and make friends whilst taking a little money from the advertising we've put in.
We hope you enjoy the site, and hope that you'll introduce yourself in this thread.
If you run a site related to Herpes then please feel free to link to it here, but go steady on the promotion :)
Jack

-and that's not my real name.
I monitor the forums and answer most posts. This doesn't mean that I have exclusive rights to answering posts, it just means that most people who post here really need a quick answer and I try to give them that.
I have no medical education, my knowledge is based purely on research, mainly online, and only from reputable resources.
And yes, I have Herpes. I have a cold sore that I haven't seen for 10 years. I sincerely hope I don't give it to my 10 month old daughter, but I don't hold back on the kisses seeing that I have been outbreak free for so many years.
I hope to see some good discusions and to learn a lot more about Herpes!
Kind regards,
iv
I introduce myself
Hello, Jack and iv,
My name is not klarissa PHN, but could be. I,m 48 yr old housewife with two sons and husband. I,ve been suffering from PHN caused by Herpes Simplex and not Zoster for 15 years. First outbreaks occured at my first pregnancy. A little HVS-1 on my right bottom. No treatment as I was pregnant. Doctors cannot help me in HUngary, even they can,t see me. I had MRI, I was treated with rheuma, nearly killed me by the pain what warm water and massage caused me and 6 yrs ago I got tramadol and Zoloft. They tried some anti- epileptics but side effects were worse. I,m totally healthy anyway, I had no severe illness, even I can,t get flu. Since I gave up looking for new doctors, I,v been living quite happy and activ (not working of course) life. Without tramadol I couldn,t and I make a lot of efforts to continue my life. I,m a mentalhigienist graduated from Univ. for Medic Semmelweis in Budapest and a natural-healer, homeopath. I worked as economist for 15 years before children. And now I deal with Near Death Experiences for 3-4 years, I give lectures, make translations and with others I work on a book about NDE. I,m travelling, dancing and enjoying sex with my husband as never had outbreaks around genitals, only around sacrum/bottoms. I have them nearly every month, for a few years. But the pain!!
I hope I'll get new ideas from others and your web sites. So thanks in advance that you are running this web.

I dont have Herpes myself. but two of my friends have recently discovered that they had it. I wanted to learn more about it so i could #1 be here for them and understand a little of what they are going through, treatments, emotional etc. and #2, to know more about it so i know better how to protect myself. I hope im not imposing on this forum. I just really love my 2 friend's, they are like sisters to me. Thanks in advance, regardless of the outcome.

I'm thankful
Hello. Last week, I was just diagnosed with having HSV 2. I had no idea that the sores that I would get on my right buttock cheek was herpes. I always assumed the sores were a ringworm because they would always come in a circular form. Also, I thought herpes only came on the mouth or the actual genitals.
My first sore came on my butt cheek about four years ago. I never went to a doctor to have it checked out. I would just use Lotrimin or Tenactin because I thought it was a ringworm.
So, I went to the doctor two weeks ago to have what I thought was a ringworm checked. Since I didn't have a sore at that time, he really couldn't tell; however, I did have the scars from them. The doctor said the scars didn't look like ringworm, but looked like herpes. I was stunned. I couldn't believe it.
In the four years that I've been getting these sores, they have always been right around the same area...my right butt cheek. Nowhere else.
I've been celibate for three years with no kind of sexual contact whatsoever. Not because of herpes, as I said, I just found out that I have HSV 2, but more so for moral reasons.
Anyway, I have a two year old daughter, which means that I had herpes when I was pregnant with her, yet I didn't know.
I was sexually active when I contracted HSV 2, but, none of the guys with who I had sexual intercourse ever mentioned anything to me about symptoms. So, I'm wondering if I infected anyone. No one has yet confronted me.
I asked my doctor if I would ever get sores anywhere else on my body besides where they normally come. He said, I might. I hope not.
I'm just thankful that the outcome is this and not something worse. I could have easily gotten oral herpes.
Need to know that are other people who feel like i do?
I have only known for a week. My boyfriend was so sopportive when i told him the news and I have been so mean to him almost pushing my only support group away. Why did I do this? Now he feels that I have taken him for granted. I have had deep depressive thoughts, major fatigue, hopelessness, you name and I have felt it. He does not have it and even if he is willing to have safe sex with me I feel it is selfish of me to put him in a pradicament where he could get it. We have been having unsafe sex even other girls in bed with us for 8 years. He says he does not have it but may it be true that he has it will never have a breakout and is a carrier?
Hello there.
I am a 32 year old guy who has had genital herpes for 12 years. I used to take episodic treatment, but recently decided to start 200 MG daily of acyclovir as a supressive treatment. My Dr. set me up for 7 months of refills, so I hope it works. My outbreaks are very mild, and have been for the past 8 years. I get a tingling, and a "hot spot" pops up.
From all the research I have done, a low dosage of zovirax should be enought to keep it in check. I am here to compare notes and just rap with fellow sufferers in the hopes we can all benefit from the experience.
Peace out!
infection from shared drinking glass
I am 55. Over 10 years ago I developed herpes 2 in my mouth area from oral sex with a woman.
The other night I was out with friends. I had no symptoms. I was drinking scotch and 2 of my friends wanted to taste what I was drinking. They did drink out of my glass. Now I am worried that even though sympton free and without direct contact that they might have been infected. I read that it is hard to get herpes 2 in the mouth and that the exposure had to be in great quantity.
What is the risk that my friends might have been infected by taking a sip from my whisey glass.
Need to know that are other people who feel like i do?
I felt the same way,I had the blood test and the doctor said I might not have it but I have been exposed to both types of herpes. I pushed my boyfriend away because I felt very selfish to even consider haveing sex with him not knowing if he has it or not.I don't think I could even consider being with someone else and chance spreading it. I really don't know much about it medically but I did go through all the emotions you have. Right now my biggest concern is finding out where I got it from and letting everyone I have been with since then a heads up. I guess I feel its my responsibility even though I don't want the whole town to know. I pretty much had the same question, can you be a carrier and never have an outbreak??
I'm Natalie
Hi! I'm Natalie. I've had HSV-2 for almost six years now. I was recently searching on-line for more information (even though I educate myself constantly, I am always looking for new research and helpful sites) about HSV-2 when I found this new helpful website. I was really impressed because people have been sending in questions about some things I have always wondered but felt that no one else thought or experienced the same things!! I have even felt a little uneasy asking some questions about herpes and symptoms, etc, in my support group!!
I'm glad to be a member!
Cheers!
Hi
My future husband just told me that he has genital herpes. I still love him with all my heart, but I'm afraid that if I sleep with him and I get it, I'll be selfish. Because won't I transfer to any kids I may have?
