Can you get eye herpes from genital herpes through hand eye contact?
This is embarrassing but can you get eye herpes from cross contamination from hand on genitals to eye area? If so, would it happen immediately that you would have symptoms (like 5 minutes) or am I just paranoid? I don't think I'm having an outbreak but I'm still concerned as to my eye started bothering me literally 5 minutes after the contact.

Don't be embarrassed, you can't know it all!
Cross contamination is not an issue with Herpes as it is a virus, not an infection. A virus is basically in your body but this one, the Herpes virus, manifests itself via a visible outbreak in the place where you were infected, in your case the genitals. You can give to to other people if you have sex, but you can't give yourself more of what you already have. You must be experiening an eye irritation untlated to your Genital Herpes.

Annie, I know what you mean! I have had a sty and got white little bumps in my eyes all week. I feel like it can be related too. I just handle any other problems! i NEVER have eye problems, but the same week I get diagnosed with GH...I get eye problems too. hmmm? I don't know.

Yes, occular herpes is little known but real.
Your eye/mouth/genital tissues are all very similar, and it is possible to get it in your eyes.
I had a small pustule on my eyelid a few times, ususally after an OB in my genitals.
It felt like I had something in my eye, and when I looked, there was a small pustule there. Eye/mouth tissue heals very quickly, so I ever had a scab or anything.
Just wash you r hands a lot, and don't rub eyeballs with anyone.

I was seriously going to post the same question right before I saw this. I had sex with my boyfriend tonight (im having an outbreak) and can't remember if I rubbed my eye after that. I started to freak a little. Your not alone.
