oral sex (performed on female) and herpes

My girlfriend has genital herpes and I do not. We use a condom when we have vaginal sex. She would like me to have oral sex with her. From what I understand I could get oral herpes from going down on her. My question is can I also get herpes on my genitals from the oral sex too (still me on her)? Logically it seems that I woulden't since my genitals are not involved in the oral sex, but I'd rather know for sure before I go there.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Oral sex and herpes

Herpes is passed through skin-to-skin contact. So, no, if you're going down on her, your genitals are not in danger. But your lips are. If you have ever had a cold sore in your life, then don't worry about it - you've already got oral herpes so that's a non-issue. If you've NEVER had a cold sore, however, and to protect against any other STDs you might choose to use a dental dam. Put a little drop of lube on her side of it to make it more pleasurable, and munch away... ;0)

If she has genital herpes

If she has genital herpes and you go down on her whether or not you've had a cold sore you are still at risk of catching type 2 as well as type 1

yes, it is very possible to

yes, it is very possible to get genital herpes from having oral sex with her if she has hsv2. It's more likely that you will get outbreaks in your mouth, since outbreaks normally occur where the virus enters the cell. however it is highly possible that outbreaks will be in both areas, the virus just has a different point of entrance into the body but hsv2 prefers to reside in the nerve cells located in your lower spine which does cause genital outbreaks. Your girlfriend is pretty selfish if she is asking you to do this because she is putting you at risk. if anything, i would use a female condom and cover all areas that your mouth comes in contact with

man

that sucks...i miss my boyfriend going down on me so much... but by him not doing it i see he has a lot of self respect while still trying to pleasure me. Self respect is assuring and appealing.
