What kind of doctor to see?

I think i might have it, i went to a Planned Parenthood doctor to see but by the time they got to see me my rash was already gone. And she said the only way i could tell was to get a blood test, but she said she couldn't do it. What kind of doctor should i see and around how much does a test like this cost. My father is a doctor and obviously i would like to keep this kind of thing secret from my parents and family for now, and i wouldn't want someone who knows my dad to let it slip, anyway i just want to know what kind of doc to see or where i can just get a blood test.

The Doctor
If you are a female, you should make an appointment with your OB/GYN. He or she can perform a blood test to check for herpes. I am unsure of the cost, although I do know that the cost is considerably lower if you go to a state funded health unit to have the test done. Your primary physician may also perform a blood test, but if he or she doesn't rountinely perform the test, then they should be able to direct you to somebody who can and the approximate cost of the tests. I am unsure of physicians who specialize in male sexual health, (a urologist maybe??) but likewise, you can go to your county health unit or better yet, make an appointment with your primary physician. Both should be able to offer you the information you need for testing and costs. As far as keeping your medical matters private, it is against the law for a physician to disclose any information to any person(s) without your permission, and if another physician requests your medical records from your current physicain, the patient must fill out a release form first, at least that is the law in my state. It is possible that the laws may differ from state to state.
