Herpes on the hand
About three months ago I came into sexual relations with a very close friend of mine, about 2 weeks afterwards I started to have pain in the tip of my penis, I never developed blisters or sores or anything of that nature. I have gone to several doctor's in the last 3 months and was finally given a HIV/Herpes test. my results came back HSV1 Negative HSV 2 Negative but the third part of the test for HSV simplex came back positive.
At the time I was waiting for these results they had treated me for "Jock Itch", I was given an antifungal cream for the jock itch.
I'm currently waiting 4 more weeks before I can go back to get another HSV test to see if I have 1 or 2, but my main fear is that before the idea of Herpes came into being I did touch/manipulate my penis/scrotum area on a daily basis, sadly enough I did not use gloves, but I always washed up before and after each "Examination". My main question is now a great concern, I'm worried I might have spread this from my genitals to my hands, I've developed some rather small pimple like skin irritations on my left hand (the one that did most of the probing). I've never had a "Sore" or "Lesion" so far on my genital area, but I do have this rash like redness around the tip/base/scrotum area.
I'm personally scared to come into contact with any other humans, out of fear of spreading this via "Hand" contact, I've stopped wearing my contacts and despite my research, cannot find much information on herpes infecting the human hand. My last visit to a doctor ended with them saying "Bug bites" but these little pimples are spearding, but not breaking/crusting over, I'm going in for a culture on them tomorrow and want to know if these things will continue to come back time and time again if they are indeed herpes.
Why is there so little information and why is there so little mentioned about spreading herpes from one part of the body to another? I know it's rare but it's scary and I have no clue as to what to do, and more importantly is there any way to get rid of the ones on my hands, I haven't physically touched a single person since I noticed the little bumps last week.
Could it be possible that the pimples are something else?
Sorry for having such a long message for myf irst post. thanks for reading and thank you more for responding, I'm personally terrified right now.

Hands?
I am not sure that herpes affects that normal type of skin. I think you can get herpes down the side of the nails, and many people get those 'whitlows' there. However....it is important to note, all the information I have ever read states quite categorically that one virus only infects one nerve pathway. Therefore, if you have it on your penis, you can't transmit it to your mouth, hand etc. BUT, you can get a different herpes virus. You can have both HSV1 and HSV 2 in different (or the same) nerve pathways.
The fact that your sores are not blistering and crusting suggests these are not herpes lesions to me.
Initial symptoms do itch like Jock Itch (that's trhush, right?)...have you responded to the antifungal cream?? In fact, it itches more than thrush in my experience.
Herpes on Hand reply
Don't believe that you can't get sores on your hand. Hopefully by now you have been diagnosed and are being treated. My daughter recently had some sort of outbreak on her hand, after numerous dr visits, including infectious disease dr's, and a week long hospital stay, the sores on her hand were diagnosed as herpes. Not sure which version, we are still awaiting test results and none of the dr's can figure out how or why she got the sores on her hand. She did have an open cut on her palm, which is where the sores erupted. If you see this post I am curious to know if your hand was ever diagnosed and if so if you had additional outbreaks on the hand? Not a lot of information out there that I can find, so any insight would be helpful.
sores on the hand
yes i've seen sores on the hand that reoccur think wife got it in the heath care field somehow. pretty much same spot on reoccurring. dr said probably some type of herpes. all this technology and no cures wtf.
hand herpes :|
i was told that you can get it on your hands, if you were in contact with someone that had it and you had a open cut. Other wise your okayy, im not positive but thats just what i have been told.
you can get herpes on your hands
Hi everyone,
It's definitely possible to contract herpes on your hands from skin-to-skin contact, especially if there are any outbreaks or open lesions. It's common in the health care profession (especially for dentists, since their hands are often around cold sores and saliva), but could really happen to anyone. On doctors, having outbreaks on their fingertips as a result of patient care is called "herpetic whitlow."
Also, once you have a herpes outbreak on one part of your body, it is possible to transfer it to another part of your body through your hands.
tiny bumps on the hand
The reason I read your post is because I have small bumps on the hand. I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with shingles, which is a revisit of the chickenpox virus if you've had chickenpox before. If you do searches for "shingles on the hand," you might be able to definitively conclude that what you have. Otherwise, it may be as you suspected.
Herpes on Hand
I was in a 6 year relationship with someone who didn't tell me he had HSV. Two years into it, I got small bumps on my pointing finger above the first knuckle. I thought it was a chemical reaction. Within 24 hours it had evolved into a large (dime sized) blister that was filled with liquid. Again, I didn't think it was anything and put first aid cream on it. Within 24 hours (after a total of 48 hours), I developed a fever and a red stripe up my arm. My hand was swollen and it hurt at the joints. I went to the ER and was put on antibiotics. I was told it was herpes or some allergic rash. Still clueless, I didn't go to my doctor about it. The next time it started, I went to my doctor to get antibiotics right away. The red stripe still came. He said that he was shocked, but it looked like herpes. Stupid me, still didn't believe him. Then, I was unpacking my friend's bag from a business trip and found a bottle of valtrex. I was shocked. The next day, I went to the doctor and was tested. I was HSV 1 neg and HSV 2 pos. It's been 7 years since the first outbreak. I have had maybe a total of 6 outbreaks. ALL ON MY HAND. I now start Valtrex within 2 hours of seeing the marks and I'm symptom free within 72 hours. *I still take a 5 day supply. It is possible to get it on other parts of your body, sadly. However, there is not much research on it. Any one know of any recent articles on Herpes on hands, etc.?
