Please help......I was just told today.....

in

I was just told today by my OB/GYN that I have Herpes Type 1 and that scares me to death.
The thing is I've never had a cold sore or blister anywhere around my face or rashes that
turned into blisters anywhere. Anyway, I guess the question is, can I pass this virus?
If all the reports say to abstain during outbreak and I don't have outbreaks, can I
pass it? Please help....

Don't worry.....

....too much.
Before December 2005, I would've been shocked to learn that I had herpes...but have it I do, and I am now aware that I may well have had it for 12 years, but just didn't recognise the symptoms. I will never know for sure when or from whom I got it. And I guess, in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter, as it's MY virus now!

Your type 1 herpes could be on your genitals or on your mouth. I don't get any on my mouth (you can only be infected with type 1 in one place on your body, and similarly with type 2 - if you have type 1 on your genitals, you won't get it on your mouth). Do you get any itching on your genitals (I assumed mine was thrush)? Or a little spot now and again that goes away within a few days? My 'little spot' comes up every 6 months or so on my perineum, so I have never been able to see it. In December 2005, I got a sore area on my labia so was able to have a look...and I worked it out that it was herpes, and my doctor confirmed it by clinical symptoms (my 2 swabs have come back negative, but it is notoriously difficult to get a positive swab so they tell me). After a period of mental adjustment, I now don't have too much of a problem with my herpes. You are not a leper if you have the virus as more people have it than realise.

Best wishes,
Lido

Thanks!!!!
