Just a question

Hi There! I wanted to find a way to understand this virus so that I am well educated on even the smallest things.

A very close friend has recently been diagnosed with genital herpes in the weirdest way. Seems she gets outbreaks on her knee! She's had a number of them so far since being diagnosed and now her doctor is saying that if she has one more, he will prescribe Valtrex for her on a daily basis.

I have concerns for her because now this beautiful young girl who had gorgeous long healthy black hair is finding that her hair is not only breaking but it's dry and lifeless. I think it may be the Valtrex because it is really the only thing that has changed in her life. Can anyone comment on this?

The other thing is I keep reading that during an outbreak it is important to avoid "skin to skin" contact. Is this only sexually or at all?? I can't or would hate to have to believe that it's the latter.

If anyone can offer comments or advice on how I can be supportive of my friend by being educated and up to date on all info...so that I can be strong and knowledgeable when she needs me, I would be so grateful of that.

Hoping to hear something soon!

Take good care of you.

sexual or not, if you came

sexual or not, if you came in contct with the sore on her knee and you had a break in the skin that you touched with you could get it, but it is easier to get on mucus membranes since it is easier to get in that route, this is just my take on it, I could be wrong.you could go look at a medical site, these (we) people aren't doctors, I can speak for myself I have no qualifications to give advice, except my experience and what I have learned.
